The Most Holy Place Isn’t off-limits Anymore — There Is A Standing Invitation
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
This passage from Hebrews 10:22 is more than just an invitation; it is a revolutionary shift in how you relates to the God. To "draw near" was once a terrifying prospect—in the Old Testament, the Presence of God was guarded by clouds, thick veils and strict rituals. To approach wrongly was certain death.
The heart that draws near must be authentic, not distracted by performing holiness like ceremony. The “true heart” is uncloaked: it admits its ugliness, its mixed motives, weak faith. God is not drawn to rituals — He’s drawn to honesty.
Full assurance of faith is not arrogance; it is confidence in who God is. It rests not in our worthiness but in His faithfulness. Faith does not eliminate struggle—it anchors us in the midst of it. When you draw near with assurance, you are declaring that His promises are more reliable than our fears. You can come boldly, not because you are strong, but because He is trustworthy.
The Cleansing of Conscience
“Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience” speaks of a profound inner transformation.
The “sprinkling” is a gentle, continual reminder of God’s grace, washing away the lingering stains of guilt and self‑condemnation. It is not a one‑time act but a daily renewal, where the Holy Spirit softens the hard places of our mind, replacing fear with peace.
“Our bodies washed with pure water” evokes the biblical image of washing and regeneration by the word of God.
Pure water represents purity, renewal, and the life‑giving flow of God’s Spirit. As the water touches the skin, it reminds us that our actions, speech, and habits are to be cleansed, reflecting the holiness of the One you should be drawing near to.
So draw near
Religion has taught you retreat; that God is holy and you are polluted, that the safest posture is distance. But the Holy Ghost of God reverses every impulse of avoidance. He commands you and says: approach. Fear kept the Israelites at the foot of Sinai; faith calls us through the torn veil by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Draw near when you feel unworthy.
Draw near when your faith is weak.
Draw near when your conscience reminds you of yesterday.
Draw near when you are weary of carrying what He has already offered to remove.
Because when you step toward Him, you will not find rejection—you will find cleansing. You will not find accusation—you will find mercy. You will not find distance—you will find restoration.
And in that nearness, shame loosens its grip, fear loses its voice, and your soul remembers where it belongs. The One who calls you near is the very One who makes you clean.
So come. Not tomorrow. Not when you feel more worthy.
Come now.
Draw near—and discover that you have been invited into a love that was reaching for you all along.
