God’s Perfect Timing For Salvation

Jesus Came Just In Time

Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Ignorant To Your Condition

The Holy Ghost of God declaration in Romans 5:6 confronts us with a paradox that lies at the heart of Christian faith.  In just a few words, the Apostle Paul reveals a truth that reaches into the deepest part of the human condition: Christ did not wait for humanity to become worthy of His love. He came to die when humanity was powerless to save itself.

The Holy Ghost of God begins by describing our spiritual state before redemption. "Without strength" means more than mere weakness, it speaks to absolute powerlessness. We were incapable of saving ourselves, unable to bridge the chasm between our sinfulness and God's holiness.We possessed no spiritual currency, no moral leverage, no divine merit to offer. We were utterly bankrupt before God.

"In due time Christ died for the ungodly"

To focus on this phrase is to examine the precise intersection of human helplessness and divine rescue. The Apostle Paul deliberately uses jarring descriptors: we were "without strength" (spiritually bankrupt, utterly powerless to save ourselves) and "ungodly" (alienated from God, rebellious, and deserving of judgment). Yet, it was precisely into this moral and spiritual wreckage that Christ stepped.

  • His Willingness Confronts Our Unworthiness: Human love is almost always conditional drawn to beauty, goodness, or mutual benefit. Christ’s willingness to die subverts this entirely. He did not wait for us to clean up our lives, reform our behavior, or become worthy of His attention. He died for the ungodly while they were still enemies.
  • His Timing is Perfect ("In due time"): God’s rescue mission was not an impulsive reaction or a historical accident. "In due time”, at the exact moment prophesied and orchestrated by God’s perfect wisdom, when human failure had thoroughly proven that no other rescue was possible, Christ entered history to lay down His life.
  • His Power Operates Where We Are Powerless: Because we are "without strength," salvation cannot be earned through human effort. The cross is not a reward for the righteous; it is a hospital for the broken, a sanctuary for the helpless, and a pardon for the guilty.

The Sacrifice: "Christ Died for the Ungodly"

Here is where grace shatters human logic. Christ died not for the righteous, not for those who deserved it, but for the ungodly. This was not a rescue of the morally neutral; it was an act of love directed toward those who had rejected their Creator. While we were yet sinners, hostile to God, pursuing our own desires, Christ voluntarily went to the cross.

The Invitation of Salvation

You were lost. Not just confused, not just struggling helpless, drowning in a sea of choices that led only to ruin. You did not stumble into grace. Jesus did not wait for you to clean up your act. He did not demand perfection before He would die. He saw you in your worst moments, your rebellion, your shame, your exhaustion and He said, "I will take their place."

And He did.

Now, the question is not whether you are worthy. The question is: Will you stop running? Will you let the weight of His sacrifice sink in that the Son of God, the King of Glory, looked at you and chose the cross?

So here you are. Alive. Loved. The debt is paid. The door is open. All that is left is for you to walk through the door of salvation. Not by your strength, but by the power of Jesus Christ. Not in your time, but in today, right now.

Unmasking the Illusion of Secular Wisdom

Human Philosophy Falters Before The Cross of Christ

1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

The Collapse of Human Architecture

In 1 Corinthians 3:19, the Spirit of God, exposes the grand illusion of human autonomy. This is a direct confrontation with the cultural values of his time that prized intellectual sophistication, rhetorical prowess, and human reasoning above all else. The world celebrates cleverness divorced from truth, strategic manoeuvring that exploits others, and knowledge pursued for personal gain and status rather than understanding or genuine good. In God’s eyes this knowledge without the Spirit of God is smooth-brain lunacy.

What Is This Worldly Wisdom?

The wisdom Paul condemns isn't knowledge itself. It's the kind of intelligence that operates without God, the cunning that plots advancement, the rhetoric that persuades toward false ends, the reasoning that elevates human judgment as supreme.  Today, worldly wisdom manifests as corporate deception masquerading as innovation, political spin replacing honest discourse, and personal ambition dressed up in righteous language.

This worldly wisdom is ultimately self-serving and self-deceiving. It promises fulfilment through wealth, power, sexual conquest, status, and intellectual superiority. People chase these things believing they've discovered the secret to happiness, yet they remain empty.

The Stumbling Block to the Proud

God does not merely outthink the wise; He turns their wisdom against them, exposing its futility and showing that no human scheme can ultimately stand against His purposes.

In contrast, God’s wisdom is revealed in the foolishness of the cross a message that the world deems absurd, yet it is the power of salvation. The wisdom of God:

  • Humiliates the proud by showing that true knowledge begins with reverence for Him.
  • Exalts the weak and despised because His strength is made perfect in human frailty.
  • Leads to eternal life while worldly wisdom only offers temporary, earthly gain.

In contrast, God's wisdom appears as foolishness to the world, it speaks of dying to live, losing to gain, serving to lead, and surrendering to find freedom. It demands humility, obedience, and trust in something beyond ourselves. This is why the cross itself is Paul's ultimate example: the execution of God's Son appears as a failure, yet it is God's redemption for you.

The Wisdom of God Is Available To You

You have built your life on plans that made perfect sense, your education, your career track, your relationships, your moral ledger, your carefully managed reputation. And yet, in the quiet hours, you feel the fragility of it all: the anxiety that one wrong move could unravel everything, the ache that even your best days leave you still searching for something more. Here is the shocking mercy of God: the very wisdom you trust to keep you safe is the net that traps you, because it keeps you from the One who alone can save.

But Jesus Christ, the wisdom of God, has entered your story not as another strategy to improve your life, but as the Saviour who died for your pride, your self-reliance, and your secret shame. On the cross, He absorbed the judgment your cleverness deserves; in His resurrection, He offers you a new life that no scheme can secure and no failure can destroy. Today, He calls you to lay down the illusion that you can save yourself, and to receive, by faith, the foolishness of the gospel, which is the power of God for your salvation.

Will you let go of the wisdom that leaves you stranded, and take hold of the Wisdom who became flesh, died for you, and now invites you to live?

Now, I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my toys to keep;

Spare them from each nosy hand—

No sharing, no sharing with siblings or friend.

If I should die before day’s light,

Obliterate each piece outright;

In my absence let none explore

What I claimed, what I adored.

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

The poem’s caricature of selfish prayer highlight why biblical evangelism matters. As Christians preach and give the gospel, they counter scarcity with generosity, fear with hope, and isolation. In doing so, they offer not just a message but a living demonstration of Christ’s free gift.

1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

This is the gospel...Why are you hording it?
