The Moment God Makes You His Own

Ephesians 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

The Name Of Your Father 

This verse reveals the magnificent depth of God’s design, grounding the believer's identity in the very nature of God:

"Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,"

The Source: Of Whom

The phrase "Of whom" anchors everything back to the preceding verse, God the Father ("the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ"). God is not merely a distant Creator or a cold despot; He is the source, origin, and archetype of true fatherhood. 

The Triumphant Saints: "The family in heaven" includes all those redeemed believers who have already finished their earthly course, the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, martyrs, and loved ones who died in faith. They are not lost, nor are they separated from God; they reside in His presence, fully conscious and glorious, waiting for the catching away of the saints.

Unbroken Unity Across Realms: Death does not divide God’s family. Though a veil currently separates the physical world from the spiritual, those in heaven and those on earth belong to one and the same spiritual house. The family in heaven reminds us that our true citizenship, heritage, and home are spiritual and everlasting.

Is named

The expression “is named” speaks of identity and identifies who you belong to. In biblical thought, a name is much more than a label. It can express identity, relationship, character, and possession. The Holy Ghost is therefore drawing our attention to the fact that God's family receives its identity from God Himself. You do not become a member of God's family because you were born into a Christian household, grew up around the church, carry a Christian name, or have religious traditions in your background.

Natural birth gives you an earthly family.

The new birth gives you the family of God.

And Earth Is Named

To be "named" gives identity, legitimate standing, rights, and inheritance. God bestows His own name upon His children, marking them as His own possessions. Whether a believer is currently walking the earth or resting in heaven, they carry the same family name, share the same Father, and inherit the same eternal promise.

He Is Your Father And You Are His Child

When you look at your life through the lens of this promise, you realize you were never meant to walk through this world isolated, discarded, or alone. Through the new birth, by placing your faith in Jesus Christ, through his death, burial and resurrection, you are instantly rescued from spiritual orphanhood and granted eternal salvation. You are no longer someone who knows about God, you become His child; by birth, blood and adoption. In that breathtaking moment, God did not just forgive your sins; He adopted you, placed His name upon you, and welcomed you into an unbreakable, eternal family. You belong to the Father and nothing in life or death can ever separate you from his love or family.

Trading Your Weakness for His Strength

The Only Amour That Gives You Strength 

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Complete Protection

The Holy Ghost exhortation in Ephesians 6:11 is fundamentally about spiritual resilience. The word "armour" means complete protection not partial defense, not selective coverage, but the whole armour. This redundancy is deliberate. Paul, is not suggesting that believers pick and choose their spiritual weapons; he is commanding total, comprehensive preparation.

The Purpose: To Stand

Here is where the Holy Ghost focus becomes crystalline: the goal is not aggression but stance, a position to stand. Steadfastness even while under assault. The foes are described as numerous, powerful, and subtle; without God’s armour, standing is impossible. “To stand” means holding one’s ground, refusing to be driven back, and maintaining position despite pressure, deception, and attack; you do not surrender your position. This is not merely defensive survival but resilient stability: the believer remains fixed in truth, righteousness, faith, and salvation even when the enemy presses hard.

Satan’s Tactics

Satan does not always attack with obvious force. He works through deception, temptation, discouragement, distortion of truth, and psychological warfare. His tactics are subtle, sophisticated, and tailored to each individual. He knows your vulnerabilities. He knows where you are weakest.

The devils' wiles include:

• Deception about God's character—making Him seem harsh, distant, or uncaring
• Temptation to compromise—"Just this once won't matter"
• Discouragement—suggesting that your faith is insufficient, your prayers go unanswered
• Isolation—pulling you away from community and accountability
• Distortion of Scripture—twisting God's Word to justify sin

So when the darkness presses in, stand. When temptation calls your name, stand. When Satan reminds you of your past, stand. When fear tells you to run, stand. Not because you are adequate, but because your Saviour is sufficient.

Your Need For A Saviour

And if you have never truly been saved, if you have never been born again do not presume that you can face the enemy without Christ. You need Jesus. You need the salvation that only He can give. Come to Him in faith. Trust Him, not yourself as the only sufficient Saviour.

Because when the devil's wiles come against you, the ultimate question will not be how strong you are.

If you're reading this and you've never truly accepted the free gift of salvation  let me speak directly to you: you cannot stand. You are not equipped. The armor Paul describes is not available to you not because God is withholding it, but because you have not entered into a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. You may feel strong. You may feel like you can handle life's spiritual attacks on your own. But you cannot. The moment a real crisis hits, the moment real spiritual darkness presses in, you will discover that you have been naked.

The Rebirth That Equips You

But here's what God is offering you right now: transformation. Rebirth. A complete exchange of your futile independence for His infinite strength. When you genuinely repent from your unbelief and believe that Jesus died for you, was buried for you, rose again, and now offers you His righteousness, something miraculous happens. You are born again. You become a child of the Most High God. And at that moment, all of the armour of God becomes yours.

Truth, The Highest Form of Love

The Compassion with Confrontation

Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

The Proceed Any Further Is Dangerous...

“Warning every man” means the message of Christ is not soft-pedaled. It is urgent. It confronts sin, exposes self-deception, and calls every person to turn from the broad way that leads to judgment. The warning is not hatred; it is mercy. A faithful preacher does not flatter, entertain, or excuse. 

And Teaching Every Man In All Wisdom

Warning alone is not enough. People must not only be told what to flee; they must be taught where to go. The Holy Ghost therefore joined warning with teaching. The gospel gives understanding concerning God, sin, judgment, grace, faith, holiness, and eternal life.

This teaching is “in all wisdom.” Biblical wisdom is more than possessing information. It is learning to see life from God’s perspective and a view of eternity. A person may know religious facts and still lack spiritual wisdom. True wisdom leads the heart to Christ, produces humility, exposes self-righteousness, and teaches the believer how to walk faithfully in a fallen world.

The gospel therefore speaks to the whole person. It warns the conscience, enlightens the mind, convicts the heart, and calls the sinner to Jesus Christ. It does not merely invite a person to add Christianity to an otherwise unchanged life. It calls him to repentance, faith, and a new life free from sin.

The Good News of Jesus Christ

The gospel contains good news, but it also contains a serious warning because humanity stands in danger apart from Christ. To warn someone is to love them enough to tell them the truth about a danger they may not see.

The Warning To You

You cannot inherit salvation from someone else. You cannot borrow your parents' faith. You cannot substitute church membership for conversion. You cannot substitute morality for regeneration. You cannot substitute religious activity for the transforming work of God.

You need Christ, not merely as an example to follow, but as the Savior you cannot do without.

And you need more than an outward profession. 

You need to be born again.

The Salvation of Jesus Christ

So this warning is for you: do not merely admire Christ, come to Christ. Do not merely learn about the new birth, be born again. Do not rest in religion, morality, or your own goodness, because none of these can save you. You need Jesus. You need the new life that only God can give. If you have never been born again, the most important thing you can do is turn to Christ in repentance and faith.

God’s Price For Your Salvation

1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Have You Counted The Cost

There are few truths in Scripture more humbling than these words: “ye are bought with a price.” The Holy Spirit of God does not say that you have improved yourself, earned your way back to God, or purchased your own redemption. He says that you were bought. Salvation is not something you accomplish; it is something God has accomplished for you.

This truth is meant to destroy both pride and despair. Pride is silenced because you cannot claim yourself as your own master when Christ has redeemed you. Despair is overcome because your value is revealed in the immeasurable price Jesus Christ was willing to pay for you. The cross demonstrates both the seriousness of sin and the depth of God’s love. Christ did not purchase something worthless; He gave Himself to redeem those who were spiritually lost and unable to save themselves.

The Implications of Ownership

“therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Your body is no longer your own to do with as you please. It is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The vessel through which you walk, work, speak, and act belongs to Jesus Christ. This extends beyond the spiritual realm it touches the physical: your eating, your sexuality, your rest, your labor, your leisure. Every bodily action is to reflect the holiness of the One who purchased you.

Your spirit, too that innermost essence of your being, your conscience, your will, your worship belongs to God. Your thoughts are His to guide. Your affections are His to redirect. Your desires are His to sanctify. There is no compartment of your existence that remains yours to manage independently.

Salvation Cost You Nothing

Listen closely: You have been purchased at an infinite cost, and that cost demands a response from you right now. Not tomorrow, not when you feel more spiritually ready but today.

If you have never been born again, never experienced that moment when you accepted the completed work of Jesus Christ, then you cannot truly glorify God, no matter how hard you try or how moral you appear. The only way to glorify God is through the rebirth that comes when you repent of your unbelief and obey the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Transformed Mind of the Believer

But if you have been born again, then awaken to what you truly are: purchased property of the King of kings, Jesus Christ the Son of the Blessed, indwelt by His Spirit, called to glorify Him in every dimension of your being body, soul, and spirit. Let that truth transform how you live. You are not your own. You belong to God. And that is the greatest privilege and the deepest source of purpose you could ever know.
