Saved, Restored, Reborn--God Promised

 A Gift of Grace That Changes Everything

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Not by works of righteousness: The verse emphasizes that salvation is not earned through good deeds or good actions. Rather, it's a gift that comes from God's.

Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!

Hail the Sun of Righteousness!

Light and life to all he brings,

risen with healing in his wings.

Mild he lays his glory by,

born that we no more may die,

born to raise us from the earth,

born to give us second birth.

The “phrase born to give us second birth" links beautifully to this passage. Just as Jesus spoke about being "born again" to Nicodemus in John 3:3, this second birth is a spiritual transaction, made possible through Christ's blood and mercy and the operation of the Holy Ghost. It is regeneration, redemption a rebirth that transforms your identity, moving you from spiritual death to life.

Connection to “Second Birth”

The phrase “born to give us second birth” (often rendered “born again”) refers to this same regenerative act:

  1. First birth – physical, natural life.
  2. Second birth – spiritual life initiated by God’s mercy, not by human righteousness.

In summary, the profound truth is that salvation is a gift, a gift of grace rather than a reward for works. Through God's mercy, we are regenerated, redeemed, restored, revived and reborn, empowered by the Holy Ghost. This new birth signifies that you can embrace the hope that lies within you and have eternal relationship with God. Together the passages affirm the beautiful promise that you are not only saved but also renewed.
