How Christ's Omniscience Rescues You

He Knows. He Can. He Will.: The Three Promises That Change Everything

Ephesians 3:21 "Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Paul is not just closing a prayer; he is declaring that all honor belongs to Jesus Christ, and that this honor is meant to resound through every generation and every age without end. The phrase “throughout all ages” points to glory that never runs out, never expires, and never becomes old.

The Weight of Glory Through Time

Paul is stacking time-words on top of one another, attempting to stretch our minds toward a horizon that never ends. This temporal span reveals three profound truths about this glory:

  • It is Gen-Spanning: This glory is not a static, frozen monument. It is dynamic. It is a living testimony passed from century to century, echoing through every historical epoch. Every generation of believers finds a fresh, unique way to reflect the beauty of God.
  • It is Anchored in Union: The vessel of this glory is the church, not a physical building, but the living, breathing assembly of redeemed believers. Because the church is united to Christ Jesus, His perfect radiance flows through ordinary, flawed human beings.
  • It is Unending: When human empires turn to dust and the stars themselves grow cold, this glory will remain. It is the only truly permanent reality in existence.

World Without End

The phrase "world without end" removes any temporal boundary. This is not glory for a thousand years, or even a million. This is infinite, ceaseless glory that outlasts the very cosmos itself. The universe will pass away, but Christ's majesty endures. The doxology anchors us in the reality that His reign extends beyond creation itself, into eternities before time began and eternities that will continue after time ceases.

Paul then strengthens this truth with the words "world without end." This expression points beyond the present creation into eternity itself. The reign of Christ has no expiration, His kingdom has no successor, and His authority will never be challenged by another. Time itself moves toward the fulfillment of His purpose, but His glory exists beyond time. When earthly history reaches its appointed conclusion, His majesty will remain unchanged. The praise offered by the redeemed is not merely for the duration of this life but continues forever in the endless presence of God.

The Profound Truth of Jesus Christ

The One who deserves eternal glory is not distant, not indifferent, and not powerless regarding your life. Jesus Christ, who is everywhere at once—in heaven and on earth, in the depths and in the heights, is aware of every struggle you carry, every doubt that clouds your heart, every wound that hasn't healed. He sees not only who you are today but your secret struggles. He possesses infinite power, power that spoke the universe into existence, power that raised the dead, power that conquered sin and death and He has chosen to direct that almighty strength toward your salvation.

You are not beyond His reach. You are not too broken or too lost. That same Christ to whom the church ascribes eternal glory throughout all ages has the power and the desire to save you. He does not save a version of you; He saves you. In His omniscience, He knows your every struggle. In His omnipotence, He stands ready to deliver you from everything that enslaves you. In His omnipresence, He promises never to leave you or forsake you. The glory that echoes through all the ages belongs to Jesus Christ who stands before you now, offering Himself as your Savior and your eternal hope.
