The One who saved by grace in ages past will continue to save all who come to Him. His eternal priesthood never ends. His intercession never ceases. His power is everlasting, and His glory is without end.

Because He is the same forever, believers have an anchor that cannot be moved. The hope found in Christ does not depend upon changing feelings or uncertain circumstances but upon the unchanging Word of God.

The Practical Significance for Your Soul

This means something devastating to despair and liberating to faith: You do not serve a God who changes with the seasons, who is more powerful on Sundays than Tuesdays, who was effective in Bible times but is somehow diminished now. The Christ of Scripture, powerful, compassionate, capable of absolute redemption, is the Christ who is alive today and available to you.

Whatever you have done, whatever has been done to you, whatever guilt or shame or fear weighs upon your spirit, Christ's power to save you from it is exactly as real and exactly as complete as it was for the woman at the well, for Peter after his denial, for the thief on the cross. Not figuratively. Not theoretically. Actually. Today.

The same Christ who stood before the tomb of Lazarus and commanded death itself to yield stands before you in whatever tomb you find yourself in and He commands, still: "Come forth." The same Christ who looked into the eyes of Zacchaeus, the corrupted tax collector despised by all, and said "Today salvation has come to this house" looks into your eyes with that same compassionate grace.

Come to the Savior Today

Yesterday, He bore your shame upon a cross and proved His love. Today, right where you stand in this very moment, His hand is extended to pull you out of the depths, offering you a full and free salvation that nothing in this world can ever revoke. And forever, through every tomorrow you will ever face, He will remain your unchanging refuge. He has not forgotten how to save, and He has not grown tired of you. Today, rest in His unchanging hands; He wants to be your Savior, today.
