The Unshakeable Attributes Of God’s Word

Sustained and Unmovable In Jesus Christ

1 Thessalonians 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Established Until The End

Paul’s prayer reaches beyond the circumstances of the present and looks toward the day when Christ will return. His desire is that your heart would be established, made firm, strengthened, settled, and secure so that you might stand before God in justified when Jesus Christ comes.

The Christian life is not simply about beginning well; it is about being established until the end.

There will be moments when your faith is tested, moments when you are weary, disappointed, tempted, or uncertain. There will be seasons when everything around you seems to be changing. But Paul prays that, through all of it, God will establish your heart.

The Purpose of Establishment

The phrase "to the end" signals Godly purpose and intention. God's work in stabilizing your heart is not accidental or incidental to your faith; it is the very aim and direction of His grace. Just as a builder drives pilings deep into the earth to withstand storms and earthquakes, God works to establish your heart so that you might remain unmoved by the shifting uncertainties of life by doubt, by fear, by the deception of this world.

Unblameable in Holiness

Notice the standard the Holy Ghost sets: your heart is to be established "unblameable in holiness." This speaks to integrity and spiritual devotion.  It is the holiness of genuine transformation, not mere outward performance.

Your Name Is Written There

Listen to what the Holy Ghost is really asking you to hear: God is actively at work to make you unshakeable. Not someday not just in heaven but now, in this very moment of your life, even as you read these words. That anxiety that grips you? That failure you can't forget? That whisper of doubt that says God could not possibly love someone like you? These do not have the final word over your soul.

Christ has already secured your salvation. His blood has already washed you clean. Your name is already written in the Lamb's Book of Life. And the Holy Spirit, who dwells within you, is even now at work firming your resolve, deepening your roots, anchoring your soul in truths that cannot be shaken. You have been established. Not by your own strength or willpower, but by the power of Jesus Christ who spoke the universe into being and who loves you with an everlasting love.

The Change

You no longer have to carry the crushing weight of wondering if you are enough or if your flaws have disqualified you from grace. The shaking in your soul has stopped because Jesus Christ has anchored you in a love that cannot be moved. This is the miracle of your salvation: that you are being shaped into something steady, held fast by a hand that will not let you go. One day, the horizon will break open and the wait will be over. You will be changed, at the sound of the last trump of our Lord Jesus Christ, translated alongside all his saints.

The Strength Found in Authenticity

Essential Bread That Is Pure and Faithful

1 Corinthians 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

A Call to Spiritual Purity

The Spirit of God draws a poignant distinction between two contrasting states of being: the corrupted nature of old leaven and the purity represented by unleavened bread. This imagery is deeply rooted in Jewish tradition, particularly the Passover, where leaven symbolizes sin and decay.

The Symbolism of Leaven

Leaven represented something that permeates and transforms, a small amount spreads throughout the entire batch of dough. The imagery shows how sin, like leaven, quietly infiltrates and corrupts the whole a person a family a church. The "old leaven" refers to the former way of living before conversion, the habits and patterns of life shaped by your impulses. When Paul writes about keeping "the feast," he's inviting believers into an ongoing practice of spiritual growth.

  1. "Old leaven" – This likely refers to the corrupt practices and sinful behaviors that had infiltrated the Corinthian church, including immorality, division, and spiritual apathy. Leaven, in biblical imagery, often represents sin that spreads and corrupts. Paul warns against allowing such wickedness to persist among believers, as it undermines the purity of their worship and witness.
  2. "The leaven of malice and wickedness" – Here, Paul explicitly names the destructive forces of malice or desire to harm and wickedness. These are not passive sins but active, intentional choices to embrace evil. Paul’s call is to reject such attitudes entirely, for they are incompatible with the life of a believer redeemed by Christ.

Sincerity and Truth

Sincerity and truth represent the opposite pole, authenticity before God. The unleavened bread symbolizes purity, absence of hidden corruption, bread made with only the essentials. Sincerity means your inner reality aligns with your outer presentation; truth means your words and actions correspond to what is real and right.

This is not naive positivity or pretending conflict doesn't exist. Rather, it's the integrity to face problems directly, to speak honestly even when uncomfortable, to build relationships on what is true rather than what serves your interests. Sincerity and truth create space for real reconciliation because they refuse the hiding places where malice and wickedness thrive. When you commit to these virtues, you are choosing the most fundamental way of demonstrating that you are a Christian.

The Christian life is not merely about avoiding sin in a superficial way but about cultivating a heart that is wholly devoted to God’s truth. To "keep the feast" is to live daily in the reality of Christ’s redemption, marked by authenticity, holiness, and a rejection of all that is false or harmful.

Standing Without Hidden Malice

But I want to speak directly to you now, because this passage is not a command whispered from centuries past, it is a personal invitation meant for you, in this moment. You carry within you the same choice the Corinthians faced: will you continue fermenting with the old leaven, or will you let it be purged? That resentment you have been nursing, that bitterness toward someone who wronged you, that convenient dishonesty you have rationalized, these are the leaven you are being asked to release. It will not be painless. Releasing malice means forgiving when forgiveness costs you your right to be angry. Abandoning wickedness means choosing truth over advantage, even when the truth diminishes you.

But here's what the Scripture promises you: there is a way to live free. Not free from struggle or sorrow, but free from the corruption that eats you from the inside. When you commit to sincerity and truth, when you stop pretending, stop scheming, stop harboring poison, something shifts in your soul. You become real again. You become the kind of person who can stand before God and others without the weight of hidden malice pressing you down.

The feast Paul invites you to is not one of celebration despite your brokenness; it is a celebration made possible only when you have had the courage to let the old leaven go. Will you choose it?

The Cornerstone of Faith and Hope

Behold The Cornerstone

Behold the Corner-Stone, Which God in Zion lays,

To build our heav’nly hopes upon, And his eternal praise!

Isaac Watts

The Cornerstone of Our Faith

Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone—the foundational stone upon which all of God’s redemptive purposes are built. A cornerstone is not merely a keystone but the first and most critical stone in a structure, ensuring alignment, stability, and unity. The cornerstone represents Jesus Christ himself, the immovable foundation upon which God constructs your eternal faith. Just as a physical cornerstone bears the weight of the entire edifice, Christ alone bears the weight of your salvation and your redemption.

When the passage proclaims that God "lays" this stone in Zion (representing God's holy city and covenant people), it affirms that this foundation is divinely placed, not human-constructed. We do not build our salvation; God builds it for us, and Christ is its unshakeable base.

Building Our Heavenly Hopes Upon It

The phrase "to build our heav'nly hopes upon" reveals the purpose of this cornerstone. Our hopes are not built on circumstances, achievements, wealth, or even our own righteousness, they rest entirely on Christ's finished work and eternal nature. Every prayer we lift, every struggle we endure, every promise we cling to in darkness stands upon this singular reality: Jesus Christ is our foundation.

This is profoundly countercultural. The world invites us to build our hopes on education, status, relationships, security, and self-improvement. But the passage declares that such constructions are ultimately fragile and vain. Only when our deepest aspirations, for meaning, forgiveness, purpose, and eternal life, are anchored to Christ do they become unshakeable, immune to the erosion of time and circumstance.

Eternal Praise as the Building's Crown

The passage concludes with "his eternal praise." The cornerstone is not laid merely for our comfort; it exists to direct all worship, honour, and glory to God himself. Every stone we place in our spiritual house—every act of faith, obedience, and love, becomes part of a monument to God's majesty. Our salvation is inseparable from God's glory; to be saved in Christ is to participate in an endless song of worship.

The Promise of Grace

This cornerstone is Jesus Christ himself, the rejected stone who became the head of the corner. He is the bridge between the brokenness of the world and the perfection of God’s plan. To build upon Him is to acknowledge that your own strength is insufficient and to surrender the heavy burden of trying to "earn" your way into eternal life.

When you anchor your heart in Jesus Christ, you are no longer building on the sand of performance, but on the solid rock of His finished work. It is here, in humility, that you find the true weight of salvation: a reality that begins not when you pass from this world, but the moment you trust in Him as your foundation.

Build On This Stone

My friend, you are invited to rest your entire weight upon this foundation. You do not have to carry the pressure of perfection, nor do you need to fear the storms that threaten to collapse your spirit, for your salvation is not held together by your grip, but by His. He is the Architect who began this work in you, and He is faithful to complete it. Lean fully into this blessed hope, that because He lives, your life is eternally secure, and the day is coming when every shadow of this world will fade before the brilliance of the praise that belongs to Him alone.

And here is your blessed hope: You are not orphaned in this faith. The very fact that you're reading these words suggests the Spirit is drawing you. That pull toward Christ, that longing for something solid beneath your feet—that is the Spirit of God.

So I ask you directly: Will you, today, truly build your heavenly hopes on Jesus Christ? Not nominally, not casually, but with the full weight of your life, your questions, your fears, and your deepest longings? He is waiting, absolutely trustworthy, absolutely sufficient, absolutely yours if you will have him.

Born for Victory: Embracing Your God-Given Strength

The Faith of God That Overcomes The World

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

The Source of the Nature

When you are "born of God," you aren't just joining a club or adopting a new set of rules. You are receiving a new.

  • The Seed: In the natural world, a child inherits the traits of the parent. Because God is an overcomer, those born of Him are inherently overcomers. The victory is "built-in" to the new birth.
  • A New Citizenry: To be born of God is to be "native" to a different kingdom. You are no longer a natural product of the "world system"; you are an ambassador from a higher realm, and therefore, the world no longer has the legal right to bind you.

The Result: "Overcometh the World"

The word "overcometh" it means to carry off the victory, to subdue, and to remain unconquered.

  • The World's Strategy: The world tries to overcome you through three avenues: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. It uses "the affairs of this life" to entangle you.
  • The Believer’s Response: You don't overcome the world by fighting it on its own terms (with more money, more status, or more human "grit"). You overcome it by faith—the persistent realization that the One who is in you is greater than the system that is outside of you.

Faith as the Victory

Notice the text says faith is the victory. It isn't the tool to get the victory; it is the victory itself. In the moment you choose to believe God’s Word over your circumstances, the world has already lost its power.

The Mechanism: "Even Our Faith"

Faith is the umbilical cord of this new birth. It is the practical way we draw on the life of the scriptures to defeat the pressures of the world. It isn't just "believing hard enough"; it is a settled trust in the One who conquered the world on our behalf.

Your God Given Birthright

You are not meant to be defeated by the world. If you've been born of God, if you've placed your faith in him, then you carry within you a victory that has already been won. The struggles you face—the doubts, the pressures, the temptations to compromise—these are real, but they are not final. Your faith is not a fragile thing; it is the very mechanism by which God's overcoming power flows through your life. When you feel small against the world's vastness, remember: you are connected to something immeasurably greater. Your victory is not something you must earn or achieve through desperation; it is your God given birthright through Jesus Christ.

Your Lego‑Inspired Faith

Building on the Eternal Baseplate

1 Corinthians 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

The Divine Blueprint

Imagine the universe as an endless supply of Lego bricks, each piece a perfect expression of God’s creative grace. Jesus Christ, the foundation brick, is the sturdy, radiant baseplate upon which every structure must begin. He is the cornerstone that holds the whole edifice together, just as the first plate in a Lego set determines the stability of everything that follows.

“…as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation…”
A masterbuilder starts where others often rush past. Before towers rise and colors appear, the baseplate is set. In God’s design, that foundation is Jesus Christ—unchanging, level, and strong. Paul did not lay himself as the base. He laid Christ. Every teaching, every church, every life must lock onto that single, immovable foundation.

“…and another buildeth thereon.”
This is the beauty of God’s work: it is communal and generational. Paul steps back and others step in. The build continues. Different hands, different gifts, different designs—but the same baseplate. The structure grows higher because the foundation was right.

As wise master builders, you are called to build upon this foundation with care and intention. In the context of Lego, this means choosing the right bricks, planning the design, and ensuring that each piece fits perfectly to create a cohesive and stable structure. Similarly, in our spiritual lives, you must choose our actions, thoughts, and beliefs wisely, aligning them with the teachings of Jesus Christ to build a life that honors Him.

The Collaborative Nature of Spiritual Construction

Just as complex Lego models require multiple builders working in harmony, spiritual growth is a collaborative process. Paul acknowledges this by noting that while he laid the foundation, others will continue building upon it. This speaks to the spirit of your saving faith and this common salvation.

Part of the Construction

The beauty of the Master Builder’s vision is that we are all part of his "Great Build" that spans generations.

One day, the "Instruction Manual" will be closed. The dust will be blown away, and the light will shine on what you have spent your life putting together. In that moment, it won't matter how colorful your bricks were or how high your towers reached if they weren't snapped into the Foundation.

But there is an incredible, tear-filled joy for the builder who stayed true to the Baseplate. When the storms of life rattle the table and the winds of time blow against the walls, your life will stay standing—not because you are a perfect builder, but because the Foundation you chose has a grip that never lets go. You are not just building a life; you are being built into a temple. Make sure your every "click" honors the One who holds the pieces together.

The Benefits of A High Quality Foundation

Choose Your Spiritual Materials Wisely

 1 Corinthians 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

Building on the Foundation of Christ: A Biblical Perspective

You are called and instructed to construct your works upon the foundation of Christ. This concept is rooted in 1 Corinthians 3, This concept about building illustrates both the responsibility and the implications of what materials we choose to use in our spiritual construction.

The Quality of Works: The Metaphor of Wood

When considering the materials we can use in building our spiritual lives, wood symbolizes works that are temporary and lack durability. Wood represent actions or endeavors that lack spiritual depth or are not rooted in faith.

Building on the foundation of Jesus Christ with materials like wood symbolizes constructing your life or ministry with works that are fleeting, of little spiritual value, and vulnerable to loss. Using wood  emphasizes that without substantive faith you risk building a faith that will not endure trials, or testing.

Building Challenge

Each man must take heed how he builds,” is a call for self-examination and reflection. You must inspect and examine your building materials because weak and inferior materials will only lead to ruin.
