About The Author...
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Jesus as Author and Finisher of Our Faith
The verse presents Jesus Christ with two complementary roles: author and finisher. As the author, He is the source, originator, and writer of your faith. An author does more than start a story—He conceives the plot, shapes the characters, chooses the words, and gives purpose to every chapter. In the same way, Jesus is not a distant initiator of belief but the One who authors faith in you: He calls, informs, forms, and models the life you live. Your faith is not a human invention or an accidental impulse; it is rooted in His person, His promises, and His revealing work.
Every actor asks, "What is my motivation?" For Jesus, the motivation for the most brutal scene in human history—the Cross—was "the joy that was set before him." Despising the Shame: To an actor, "shame" is the fear of a bad review, the sting of mockery, or the vulnerability of being exposed. Jesus looked at the ultimate public humiliation of the Cross and focused on the prize.
He Is the Word — The Perfect Author
To call Jesus the author is also to recognize something deeper: He is not merely a writer of faith — He is the living Word, the word made flesh. He is the expressed image of God, the perfect communication of truth.
An author chooses the words; Jesus is the meaning.
An author shapes the plot; Jesus is the purpose.
An author completes the story; Jesus declares, “It is finished.”
The Perfect Script
There is a joyful peace in realizing that you are not the primary author of your own soul. You have likely exhaust ed yourself trying to "ad-lib" your way through trials, terrified that a single missed line will ruin the story.
But Jesus is The Word—the living, breathing articulation of God’s perfect will. He is the Perfect Author because He never writes a character He isn't willing to die for. He doesn't just give you a role to play; He stepped onto the stage Himself to show you how the Lead should be played. Looking unto Jesus — the perfect Author, the faithful Finisher, the eternal Word — and trust the One who is still writing, still sustaining, and still bringing every redeemed story to glorious completion.
