When The Resurrection Becomes Personal

The Last Adam: Spirit That Quickens

1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Adams Juxtaposition

This statement presents one of Scripture’s clearest contrasts between Adam and Jesus Christ. It is not merely a comparison between two individuals. It describes two representative heads of humanity and, more profoundly, two different orders of life.

Adam represents humanity in its natural condition. Jesus v. Christ represents humanity in its redeemed and resurrected condition. Adam received life; Christ possesses life in Himself and gives life to others.

The Mechanism of Quickening

Christ's resurrection was not simply His personal victory over death, though it was that. It was the inauguration of a new order of existence. By becoming a quickening spirit, Christ positioned Himself as the source and fountain of spiritual life for all who would receive Him. This quickening operates at the deepest level of human existence, not merely resurrecting flesh, but transforming the soul itself, imparting the divine life that cannot be corrupted or diminished.

The Reversal of the Fall

The contrast between these two Adams encapsulates the entire drama of redemption. Through the first Adam, death entered the world. Through the Last Adam, life is restored and made available. The first Adam's disobedience placed humanity under a sentence of mortality; the Last Adam's obedience unto death and His resurrection issued an invitation to eternal life. What was lost in the garden is recovered in the resurrection and exaltation of Jesus Christ.

Two Adams, Two Conditions

The contrast can therefore be understood methodically.

Adam represents natural life.

Christ represents spiritual and resurrection life.

Adam represents the old creation.

Christ represents the new creation.

Adam is associated with sin and death.

Christ is associated with righteousness and life.

Adam could transmit the consequences of his fall.

Christ can impart the benefits of His victory.

The Living Reality of This Truth

The quickening spirit of Jesus Christ is not a distant doctrine but an immediate reality for those who believe. When the Spirit of God speaks of Christ as a quickening spirit, he is not describing a figure locked in the past or confined to a single moment in history. He is articulating the ongoing, present power of the risen Christ to impart life to the spiritually dead. This quickening occurs at conversion, when the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus Christ, brings the dead human spirit to life, awakening it to the knowledge and presence of God.

But let me speak to you more personally, more urgently, about what this means for your own life.

You were born into the legacy of the first Adam, that living soul bound by time, weakness, and the inexorable pull toward death. You inherited not only his breath but his fracture, the spiritual separation that no amount of striving, accumulating, or achieving can close. You have felt this, perhaps. That incompleteness, that whisper of mortality, that sense that your own life, however vital it feels, is insufficient to itself. You know you are alive, but you also know, whether you admit it or not, that something essential is missing.

Jesus Christ, Light and Life

But there is One who is offered to you today, not as a relic of history, but as a present reality, Jesus Christ, the Last Adam, the quickening spirit. He does not offer you a new philosophy or a code of behavior to perfect yourself. He offers you His own life—the life that conquered death, the spiritual vitality that cannot decay, the eternal connection to God the Father that the first Adam lost and all his children have been searching for ever since.

When you turn to Him, something happens that no mere mortal could accomplish. You are not rehabilitated; you are regenerated. You are not improved; you are reborn. The Spirit of Jesus Christ enters into the deepest part of you and makes you alive not just temporarily, not just emotionally, but eternally. The sentence of death that has hung over your family line since Eden is broken. The separation from God that has haunted your existence is closed.

This is not a metaphor or a comforting story. This is the historical fact of the resurrection and its present application to your life. The same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead can raise you from spiritual death. The same quickening spirit that transformed Him can transform you. And it begins, simply, with believing in his death, burial and resurrection. Your salvation waits not in your own effort, but in Jesus Christ quickening. Receive it. Live in it, today.

The Strength That Comes From The Word of God

The Grant That Fortifies You

Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

The Gift of God

The words of the Holy Ghost, “that he would grant you,” reveal something deeply personal about God’s heart toward you. This is not a distant promise made to some abstract collective, but a personal gift offered to you directly. The strength you need for your spiritual journey is not something you are expected to manufacture by your own determination. It is something God desires to give you.

To grant means to give freely to bestow something upon another because the Lord is willing and able to provide it. The Lord does not merely command you to be strong; He offers you the strength you cannot produce by yourself. And notice the source: “according to the riches of his glory.” God gives from the abundance of who He is. His supply is not measured by your weakness, your failures, your past, or the circumstances surrounding you.

The Inner Fortification

The strengthening promised here happens in the inner man, that deepest part of your being where your truest self abides. This is not surface-level encouragement or temporary motivation. This is transformation at the foundation of who you are. The of God’s might does not merely patch your surface struggles; it rebuilds your interior architecture, restoring the fortress of your soul.

The word of God serves as both the mirror and the medicine for this inner renewal. When you encounter Scripture, you are not merely reading ancient words you are allowing the living power of God's truth to penetrate the deepest chambers of your being, reinforcing your faith, clarifying your identity in Christ, and reminding you of your adoption into His family.

Your Modern Calling

Here is what this means for you, today: You are not left to navigate this world in your own strength. The same Spirit who moved over creation's waters, who raised Christ from the grave, stands ready to empower you. He does not leave you to fight the battles of faith in your own strength. He gives you His Spirit, and He gives you His Word, so that your inner man can be renewed day after day.

When your heart is weary, let His Word speak.
When you feel powerless, remember the God who saved you.
When you cannot see the way forward, trust the One who is the way.

Your salvation is not merely a moment in your past it is the beginning of a life in which God continues to work within you. And the same grace that reached you when you were lost is able to strengthen you when you are weak.

You are not being asked to create your own strength. You are being invited to receive His. Open His Word. Draw near to Him. Let His truth settle into your heart. Let His Spirit strengthen your inner man.

The Priceless Cost of A Single Soul

God’s Price For Your Salvation

1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Have You Counted The Cost

There are few truths in Scripture more humbling than these words: “ye are bought with a price.” The Holy Spirit of God does not say that you have improved yourself, earned your way back to God, or purchased your own redemption. He says that you were bought. Salvation is not something you accomplish; it is something God has accomplished for you.

This truth is meant to destroy both pride and despair. Pride is silenced because you cannot claim yourself as your own master when Christ has redeemed you. Despair is overcome because your value is revealed in the immeasurable price Jesus Christ was willing to pay for you. The cross demonstrates both the seriousness of sin and the depth of God’s love. Christ did not purchase something worthless; He gave Himself to redeem those who were spiritually lost and unable to save themselves.

The Implications of Ownership

“therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Your body is no longer your own to do with as you please. It is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The vessel through which you walk, work, speak, and act belongs to Jesus Christ. This extends beyond the spiritual realm it touches the physical: your eating, your sexuality, your rest, your labor, your leisure. Every bodily action is to reflect the holiness of the One who purchased you.

Your spirit, too that innermost essence of your being, your conscience, your will, your worship belongs to God. Your thoughts are His to guide. Your affections are His to redirect. Your desires are His to sanctify. There is no compartment of your existence that remains yours to manage independently.

Salvation Cost You Nothing

Listen closely: You have been purchased at an infinite cost, and that cost demands a response from you right now. Not tomorrow, not when you feel more spiritually ready but today.

If you have never been born again, never experienced that moment when you accepted the completed work of Jesus Christ, then you cannot truly glorify God, no matter how hard you try or how moral you appear. The only way to glorify God is through the rebirth that comes when you repent of your unbelief and obey the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Transformed Mind of the Believer

But if you have been born again, then awaken to what you truly are: purchased property of the King of kings, Jesus Christ the Son of the Blessed, indwelt by His Spirit, called to glorify Him in every dimension of your being body, soul, and spirit. Let that truth transform how you live. You are not your own. You belong to God. And that is the greatest privilege and the deepest source of purpose you could ever know.

Unity Begins At The Cross

Unity of the Spirit Begins When You Rest in “It Is Finished”

Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

In Ephesians 4:3, the Holy Ghost issues a directive that is as practical as it is profound: "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." This is not a suggestion for social harmony; it is a spiritual mandate to maintain the structural integrity of the Body of Christ.

The Architecture of the Unity

The word "endeavouring" implies intense, diligent effort. It is the language of a builder ensuring that the foundation of a wall is perfectly level.

  • You Do Not Create It: Notice that the text tells you to keep the unity, not create it. The unity already exists because it was forged by the Holy Spirit at the moment you were joined to Christ.
  • The Bond of Peace: The "bond" is the ligament that holds the members together. Peace is not just the absence of conflict; it is the presence of a finished debt. Because the Cross settled every account between God and man, the "bond" that holds you to your brother is the same blood that purchased your own life.

Context: One foundation, Many expressions

Paul lists “one-ness” markers:

  • One body (the church—God’s people)
  • One Spirit
  • One hope
  • One Lord
  • One faith
  • One baptism
  • One God and Father This isn’t meant to flatten diversity; it’s meant to prevent fragmentation. Unity grows when you remember the shared center.

The Summary of the Biblical Witness

Throughout the New Testament, the "Unity of the Spirit" is presented as the visible proof of the Gospel:

  • One Body, One Spirit: Just as a building has one foundation, the Church has one life-force. You cannot be connected to the Head (Christ) without being inextricably linked to the Body (His people).
  • The Vertical and Horizontal: Your horizontal unity with others is entirely dependent on your vertical reconciliation with God. You cannot claim to be one with the Spirit while remaining divided from those whom Christ died to redeem, specifically his local church.

Believers are instructed to love one another fervently, to bear one another's burdens, to forgive as Christ forgave them, and to let the peace of God rule in their hearts. Pride, selfish ambition, bitterness, and division grieve the Holy Spirit, while humility and selfless love preserve the fellowship He creates.

This unity does not eliminate diversity. God has given different gifts, ministries, and callings within the body of Christ. Each member has a distinct function, yet all serve one Head, Jesus Christ. As every believer faithfully fulfils his or her calling with joy, the whole body grows into spiritual maturity and reflects the fullness of Christ.

Ultimately, the unity of the Spirit is centred entirely upon the gospel. Sin separated humanity from God and from one another, but through Christ's sacrificial death and victorious resurrection, peace has been made. Christ "is our peace," having reconciled both Jew and Gentile unto God in one body by the cross. The cross removes every barrier that human achievement, nationality, culture, or social standing could never overcome. The local church is one because Christ has made it one.

The Structural Necessity

When you refuse to walk in unity, you are effectively trying to dismantle the "Master’s Blueprint." The unity of the Spirit is the very thing that proves to a watching world that the Prince of Life has indeed risen and that His "Finished Work" is the most powerful force in existence.

When You Trust His Finished Work, Division Loses Its Grip

The unity of the Spirit is God's work, established through the saving work of Jesus Christ and sustained by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Believers do not create this unity, they faithfully preserve it by walking in humility, patience, forgiveness, love, and peace. Throughout Scripture, unity reflects God's nature, strengthens His Church, and serves as a witness to the world that Jesus Christ is the saviour of the world. Although believers possess different gifts, backgrounds, and callings, they are united because they share the same Saviour, the same Spirit, and the same eternal hope.

Unity Through Calvary

Unity does not begin when people finally agree with one another. It begins when you accept Jesus Christ and trust completely in His finished work on the cross. At Calvary, He broke down the wall of separation between God and humanity and made peace through His blood. As you obey his call, the Holy Spirit brings you into one body with every believer who has received the same grace. From that place of reconciliation, you are called to live out what Christ has already accomplished, to forgive, to love, to serve, and to preserve the fellowship He purchased at so great a cost. The cross is where division loses its power, peace finds its foundation, and true unity begins. Therefore, receive Christ by faith, rest in His finished work, and faithfully live out His calling, "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

Written by the Spirit on the Tables of the Heart

How Christ Rewrites Your Story

2 Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

The Working of The Holy Spirit

The gospel is not merely a doctrine written on parchment, nor merely commandments engraved upon stone. The gospel is the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit engraving truth upon your heart. But the “fleshy tables of the heart” represent a heart made tender, alive, and receptive to the Spirit of God.

This writing is done not with ink, which can be erased or fade, but with the Spirit of the living God, who actively shapes your desires, and your conscience. The heart, once hardened and dead, becomes a living record of God’s grace, pulsating with the reality of His indwelling presence.

Contrasting Table

Type of Table

Description

Significance

Tables of Stone

Rigid, unyielding, and external regulations.

Represents the law, rules, and a purely formal approach to faith.

Fleshy Tables of the Heart

Inspired by the Spirit, flexible, and transformative.

Symbolizes a deeper, internalized relationship with God that transcends mere rules.

Your Heart's Table: A Conclusion

Your life, your choices, your love, your repentance, your faithfulness, these are the ink by which Christ's epistle is being written in this world. And the reading surface is not cold stone, but the warm, living table of your heart, where the Spirit moves even now, writing redemption into every fiber of your being.

The tables of stone could only demand; they could not transform. But the Spirit writes upon your heart so that you become, from within, the very person you were called to be. Your salvation is not a law hung above you. It is Christ written in you—not as burden, but as belonging. That table of your heart, inscribed by the Spirit, is where you are finally, irrevocably loved into wholeness. The question now is: will you let Him keep writing?

The Word of God Will Strengthen You

Be Strong in the Lord When Life Tries to Break You

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

The word “finally” is more than a closing remark. It is the Lord’s pause before a final charge. After every instruction, every warning, every encouragement, and every revelation, this word gathers them all together into one urgent appeal. It is not an afterthought; it is the ultimate destination.

The Weight of the Climax

“Finally” speaks to the believer who has endured long battles, silent struggles, disappointments, temptations, and seasons of weariness. It acknowledges that your Christian journey is not lived in ease, but in conflict. You can hear the weight of experience in the word. It is the language of someone preparing hearts for what truly matters

  • Culmination: "Finally" marks the end of a chain of thought. What preceded it prepared you corrected mistakes, exposed spiritual dangers, explained the enemy’s tactics, and now the scripture closes by naming the one posture that makes all the prior teaching effective: strength in the Lord. It says, in effect, "after all this, here is the practical posture that matters most."
  • Urgency and focus: as a concluding word, "finally" also narrows the reader’s attention. It turns general teaching into a single imperative; you must not scatter your energy across lesser responses to hardship. The word concentrates the reader’s will toward one central action.
  • Transition from theory to practice: preceding argument might explain truth; "finally" moves from knowing to doing. It is the bridge between theological understanding and lived experience: the doctrine taught must result in action.
  • Spiritual summation: in rhetoric, a "finally" often introduces the point the speaker most wants the audience to remember. That makes the command that follows both a summary and a climax the spiritual takeaway meant to shape identity and behavior going forward.

The Paradox of Strength

Being "strong in the Lord" is not about your personal might, ambition, or self-reliance—it is about surrendering to the power of the word of God which infinitely greater than yours. This is the paradox at the heart of Christian strength: we become mighty precisely when we acknowledge our weakness and depend entirely on God's power. The phrase "in the power of his might" emphasizes not just strength, but unstoppable strength—a force that cannot be overcome because it is the very power that created and sustains the universe--God divine word.

This strength is available to you in this very moment. Not tomorrow, not when you feel ready, not when circumstances improve, but now. In your struggles, in your doubts, in your weariness, the power of God’s word is accessible to you through faith.

The Strength of the Lord Never Fails

Notably, the passage does not say, be strong in yourself. It does not command confidence in intellect, talent, emotion, influence, or human endurance. Human strength fades. Courage fluctuates. Determination can collapse under the pressure of grief, fear, loneliness, or spiritual warfare. The command points away from self and toward the Lord.  Spiritual strength does not always remove the battle, but it enables the believer to stand through it.

Life will test every foundation. Trials will expose every weakness. There comes a moment when comforting words alone are no longer enough. What you need then is the strength of God Himself through his word.

And perhaps that is where you are now.

You have tried to carry burdens no human heart was designed to bear alone. You have smiled while exhausted, endured while wounded, and stood while quietly breaking inside. But this word comes to you personally: be strong in the Lord, his word and his power. Not in your past victories. Not in your fading confidence. Not in the approval of others; but in the infallible, inerrant word of God.

Because when your own strength fails, the Word of God endures forever.
