When Salvation Happens, the Clock Strikes New Creation
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Being in Christ
To be "in Christ" means that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you have accepted Him as your one and only Savior. This relationship is not just about believing in Jesus Christ's existence or even just His teachings; it's about a personal connection to his completed work on Calvary.
A New Creature
The phrase "he is a new creature” speaks to the profound change in the your nature. The word "creature” means that something is created or brought into being. When you becomes a Christian or a child of God, you experience a spiritual rebirth. This doesn't mean they become a different person in a physical or outward sense immediately, but spiritually, they are grafted into the family of God.
“All Things” Becoming New
The scope is holistic:
- Personal – mind, heart, desires, and actions are transformed.
- Relational – the believer is grafted into the body of Christ, gaining a new community of believers.
- Eschatological – the present experience anticipates the ultimate renewal of creation (Romans 8:19‑23).
